Tigers Finish Fifth at Schuyler County Golf Tourney
Thursday's Schuyler County Golf Tournament featured some of the best teams from northeast Missouri, but it was a squad from across the state line that outshined the competition.
Centerville captured the tournament win with a team score of 317. Scotland County finished fifth overall in the event.
Centerville's Alex Moorman took home the individual medalist honors with a round of 73. That was five strokes better than runner-up Weston Smith of La Plata, who shot a 78.
That proved to be the difference in the team scores as well, as La Plata finished five strokes behind Centerville, with a score of 322.
Smith's teammate Jake Waddle had the third best day, finishing with a 79, tied with Putnam County's Cody Quint. Centerville and La Plata combined to round out the top ten individuals. Logan and Blake Dabney carded rounds of 80 and 81 and Austin Hueber shot an 83 for Centerville. Grant Gregory carded an 82 and Dalton Smith finished with an 83 for La Plata.
Taylor Rader shot a 96 to lead Scotland County. Drew Miller and Logan Remley each carded rounds of 101 with Dakota Elliot shooting a 102 to round out the Tigers team score of 400.
Putnam County finished third with a 348, followed by Kirksville with a 376. The host team shot a 410 with Milan rounding out the standings with a 429.
