Tami Seppelt Makes History With First 800 Series at SC Lanes
The record board at Scotland County Lanes got a little bigger Saturday evening when Tami Seppelt added a new category. The Memphis bowler was the first in the history of the lanes to compile an 800 series. She accomplished the feat during the team events at the Memphis City bowling league hosted at the lanes over the weekend.
Seppelt bowled a 267 in the first game and followed that up with a 278. She closed out her evening with a 267, but thought she had fallen short of the 800 final series score.
"I didn't think I had made it, so I was a little disappointed on my last couple of balls," she said. "Gary Talbert told me to go ahead and pick up that final spare for him, and I did. That's what put me over the top."
She finished her third game with a 267, which put her over the top with an 812 series.
Previously the top series score at Scotland County Lanes was a 792 bowled by Shawn Douglas.
The record board at the lanes highlights bowlers names who have accomplished 500, 600 and 700 series scores as well as top individual game scores, including the perfect 300 games, one of which was bowled by Seppelt back in January of 2007. The decoration will have to be expanded now, to include 800 series scores, with Seppelt's name topping the list.
Tami will be honored by the league as well as the United States Bowling Congress. The later will provide her with a commemorative 800 series ring.
