Creek, Morrow Named to All-Conference Teams
Two Scotland County players were honored among the best of the Tri-Rivers Conference when the league's coaches released the all-conference awards this week.
Megan Creek was named to the first team while Jessica Morrow was honored on the second team. Creek, a junior, led SCR-I in scoring with a 10.3 scoring average. She also averaged 5.7 rebounds per contest and three steals a game. Morrow, also a junior, was tops on the team with a 6.7 rebounding average. She also scored 7 points per contest and led the team with a 62% shooting percentage.
League champions, Putnam County, dominated the awards following a perfect 10-0 conference record. Junior Samantha Shipley was named the league's most valuable player while her coach, Craig DeVore was named coach of the year.
Joining Shipley and Creek on the first team were Milan senior Jordan Dunlap, Schuyler County sophomore Caley Sessions and Knox County junior Hannah Strange.
Named to the second team along with Morrow were Knox County senior Kathleen Hinkle, Putnam County junior Dakoda Owings, and Milan teammates Danah Page (senior) and Hannah Sanders (junior).
Putnam County was a perfect 10-0 to claim the conference title. Milan finished second with a 6-4 mark before knocking off the Lady Midgets in the district championship game to advance to the state playoffs. SCR-I was third overall at 5-5 followed by Schuyler County at 4-6, Knox County at 3-7 and North Shelby at 2-8.
