Three-Pointers Push Lady Tigers Past Canton 48-26
Going more than a week between games didn't seem to have any impact on the long-range shooting of Scotland County. The Lady Tigers connected on seven three pointers Tuesday night in Memphis as SCR-I hammered Canton 48-26.
The first period saw Scotland County use its full court press to create transition baskets. Megan Creek had a pair of field goals and Cali Holt and Kiley Frazier added buckets. Courtney Jackson connected from behind the arc to make it 11-5 at the end of the period.
That was a sign of more to come, as SCR-I erruprted from long range in period number two. Holt had a pair of transition buckets but the bulk of the scoring came from much further out. Hailey Dial did most of the heavy lifting. The sophomore was dialed in from distance, connecting on three shots from behind the arc to fuel an 18-7 run that put the home team on top 29-12 at the intermission.
Holt took over the scoring load in the third period, scoring six of her game-high 12 points as Scotland County extended the margin to 42-16. Jackson connected on her third three pointer during the stretch.
Katie Howard continued the shooting demonstration in the fourth period as she made Scotland County's seventh three of the contest. Canton outscored the Lady Tigers 10-6 in the fourth period but it wasn't nearly enough.
Holt topped the scorebook for SCR-I (11-7) with 12 points. Jackson finished with 11 points and Dial pitched in with nine points, all in the second period. Canton was led in scoring by Katie Shuman and Courtney Baalman with eight points each.
