The shooting slump continued on Friday night in Memphis as Scotland County shot just 23% from the field allowing Milan to escape with a 45-42 conference victory and put a damper on the SCR-I Courtwarming festivities.

Three nights after an off night of shooting allowed Schuyler County to steal a league win in Memphis, the Wildcats were the benefactors of the continued scoring slump for SCR-I.

Milan built an 8-7 first quarter lead before SCR-I appeared to get on track in the second quarter. Harley Stone had a pair of field goals and Jacob Blessing connected on a three pointer that helped the Tigers outscore Milan 14-11 and take a 21-19 lead at the intermission.

The Wildcats had all the answers in the third period, outscoring SCR-I 18-4 to take charge of the game. The lone Tiger points came on a pair of field goals by Stone.

Coach Lance Campbell turned to the bench in the fourth quarter, and the move nearly paid off. Junior Chris Jackson hit three, three pointers in the final eight minutes to bring the Tigers back. Field goals by Drew Miller and Lucas Howard kept the team within striking distance, but Milan was able to hold on for the 45-42 win.

Scotland County fell to 7-10 on the year and 3-3 in the Tri-Rivers Conference. Stone topped the scorebook with 14 points followed by Jackson with nine points. Scotland County made just 15 of 64 field goal attempts on the night, for a 23% shooting percentage.

Milan (8-10, 3-3 TRC) was led in scoring by Mason Clark with 14 points and Derek Price with 12 points.
