Jackson Leads Lady Tigers into Championship Game
Courtney Jackson had her second big night at the North Shelby Tournament, leading her team to a 49-40 win over the host team on January 18th to get her team into the championship game.
The senior connected for a three pointer and had five of SCR-I's seven points in the first period as Scotland County held the Raiders without a field goal in the first eight minutes to lead 7-3.
The Lady Tigers offense heated up in the second quarter. Megan Creek poured in eight points and Cali Holt canned a three pointer to help boost the SCR-I lead to 25-15 at the half.
Jackson went back to work in the third quarter. She again found the range from behind the arc. Jessica Morrow took over in the paint, scoring six points and Holt added a pair of field goals that helped extend the margin to 41-27.
North Shelby clamped down on defense in the fourth period, not allowing a field goal. But the Lady Tigers hit eight of 13 free throws down the stretch to secure the win. Jackson was a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe.
The senior had a season-high 16 points to lead all scorers. Creek finished with 10 points for SCR-I (9-6) and Holt added nine points.
