Ralph V. Hamner, 83, of Kahoka, formerly of Keokuk, IA, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Ralph was born the son of Henry and Ethel (Bender) Hamner on September 3, 1929 in Winchester, MO.

He was a believer in his Lord Jesus Christ.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning a Korean Service Medal with a bronze service star for his tour of duty.

After his discharge in 1951, Ralph settled in Keokuk, where he was self-employed as an upholsterer. Ralph enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard Lee Hamner and Delbert Hamner; sisters, Opal Pearl Hamner and Ruby DeWitt; and a step-grandson, Kevin Peterson.

He is survived by his son, Herold and wife Marjorie Hamner of Kahoka; step-daughter, Barbara and husband Waldo Patrick of Urich, MO; brothers, Charles (Junior) and wife Barbara Hamner of Wichita Falls, KS and Dale B. and wife Karen Hamner of Keokuk; step- grandchildren, Brenda Miller, Bill Patrick, Brad Patrick and Brad Peterson; several nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services were scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Keokuk National Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Hamner family and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main St., Memphis, MO 63555.
