RICHARD ERNEST SHULTZ

Richard Ernest Shultz, age 62 of Edina, MO, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, MO. He was born January 25, 1950, in Edina, MO, the son of Ernest Cecil and Helen Louise Phinney Shultz.
Richard received his education at Rutledge and Baring schools and graduated from Knox County High School in 1968. He served his country in the United States Army from September 11, 1969 to August 5, 1971. He was stationed at Phi Bai Vietnam serving in the 101st Airborne Air Mobile transportation unit supporting ground troops. He received numerous awards and accommodations for his time in the service. Richard co-owned and operated M&S Garage for several years, was employed for Chancellor Oil Company in Rutledge several years, was a truck driver and was employed with Central Stone Company and also Perrigo's Auto for several years. Richard loved cats, enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Richard was a life member of the Edina VFW Post #4822.
Surviving are five brothers and sisters, Sandy Hunolt and Bob of Edina, MO, Judy Cunningham and George of Ixonia, WS, Roger Shultz and Linda of Maywood, MO, Randy Shultz and Amee Jo of Edina, MO, and Sue Ellen Lubel and Mark of Kingwood, TX, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and one infant sister.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Brother Russell Otte officiated the services. Burial with full military honors was in the Pauline Cemetery at Rutledge, MO conducted by Knox County Memorial Post # 4822 V.F.W. and Cyril A. Graham American Legion Post # 261.
Casket bearers were Dennis Shultz, Darrell Shultz, Larry Daniels, George Cunningham, Bob Hunolt and Jeff Givens.
