DELMAR ROBERT KICE

Delmar Robert Kice, 88, of Arbela, Missouri passed away Friday evening, September 21, 2012, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri.
The son of Otto and Laura Oppy Kice, he was born September 28, 1923 at the same location where he lived all his life.
He married Clarice Kittle on November 25, 1945 at the Methodist Church in Memphis, Missouri and to this union two children were born, Jerry and Nancy.
Delmar loved his family, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his many friends, as he loved to visit and never knew a stranger.
He attended Plum College grade school and the Granger High School.
He joined the Arbela Methodist Church as a young man.
Delmar served in the Army in WWII, being stationed in the Philippines from 1945 to 1947.
Delmar was a lifelong farmer who raised white corn and shipped it to St. Joseph, Missouri for many years.
He had the first mechanical sled for tractor pulling in the state of Missouri. He was honored for 26 years of service to the Missouri State Fair, Antique and Classic Tractor Pulls from 1982 to 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ethel Louise who died during infancy; his son, Jerry Kice; and his brother, Burdett Kice; as well as his brother-in-law, Carroll Kittle; and a sister-in-law, Doris Esther Kittle.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years; one daughter, Nancy of Quincy, Illinois; one grandson, Scott of Arbela; three great-grandsons, Cody, Tristen, and Gavin, of the home; and two sisters-in-law, June Kice and Rita Kittle, both of Arbela. He is also survived by two special cousins, Okie Boyer, and Leland LeClair; nieces and nephews, Gary Kittle and wife Debbie of Memphis, Marla O' Donnell and husband Thomas; Terri Bulen and husband Wayne; David Kittle and wife Gina; all of Arbela; Rhonda Davis (Kice) and husband Billy of Bellevue, Nebraska; Ron Kice and fiancée Elaine Cross; and James Kice and fiancée Teri Herring of Memphis; and a host of relatives and friends
Memorials are suggested to the Arbela United Methodist Church or the Hickory Grove Cemetery and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.
Funeral services were held September 25, 2012, at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pastor Homer Poor officiating. Interment followed in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Scotland County near Arbela, Missouri with full Military Rites provided by the Wallace W. Gillespie, V.F.W. Post #4958 of Memphis.
Pallbearers were Gary and David Kittle, David Wiggins, Terry Smith, Jr., Gary Nolt and Ronnie Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie and James Kice, Billy Davis, Larry and Jerry Fulk and Ronnie Dochterman.
The musicians were Angela Westhoff, soloist and Reva Tripplett, pianist.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
