JANENE ANN McNAMAR

Janene Ann McNamar, 49, of Quincy IL, formerly of Memphis, MO passed away at her sister's house on Thursday morning, May 24, 2012. Janene was born July 13th, 1962 to Orville and Johanna Peterson Steele in Kirksville, MO.
She married George Henstorf on December 1st, 1985. She married Shawn McNamar October 1st, 1994 at the Steele Family Lake in Gorin, MO.
Janene was a kind, loving mother to her children, devoted wife to Shawn, and caring daughter to her parents. She was also a wonderful sister, magnificent aunt, and great friend. Janene had great compassion for others and always was willing to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. Janene will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, co-workers, and patients.
She deeply loved her family and spending time with them. Some of her favorite pastimes included shopping, reading, watching movies, and playing the piano, card games and bags. Janene enjoyed vacationing with her loved ones, taking trips to places such as Las Vegas, Orlando, Hawaii, Canada, Gulf Shores, Alabama, Cancun, and Alaska. Janene was a Star Trek fanatic and collected Precious Moments. Nature was important to Janene as she enjoyed camping, taking jeep rides, watching bonfires by the Steele Family Lake and sitting on her porch swing.
Janene graduated from Gorin High School in 1980. She studied Physical Therapy at University of Missouri, graduating in 1984. Janene began her career at the Rusk Rehab Center of the University of Missouri Health System in Columbia, MO. Janene continued as a physical therapist when she returned to Northeast MO and eventually became the director of the Therapy Department at Scotland County Memorial Hospital.
Janene was a lifelong member of the United Methodist faith, worshiping at the Gorin and Memphis United Methodist churches, and Melrose Chapel in Quincy, IL. Janene was a member of the Memphis Misfits. She led water aerobics classes at the Memphis Pool and actively participated in the Relay for Life and was named a Hero of Hope.
Preceding Janene in death were her husband, Shawn Richard McNamar; her son, Joshua Shawn McNamar; her sister, Melinda Darlene Masden; her father-in-law, Larry Richard McNamar, and nephew, Ryan David McNamar. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and AnnaBelle Peterson and Joseph and Sylva Steele.
Janene is survived by three children, her son Tyler Henstorf and his wife Kaylan of Gorin, MO, and two daughters, Becca and Bailey McNamar, of the home; her parents, Orville and Johanna Steele of Gorin, MO; two sisters, Candee and Stuart Musgrove of Quincy, IL, Teresa and Lonny Sears, of Gorin, MO; and a brother, Jon Steele of Gorin, MO.
Additional survivors include her mother-in-law, Alberta McNamar, of Memphis, MO; three brothers-in-law, Dennis and Paula McNamar, of Ft. Leonardwood, MO, Shannon and Kim McNamar of Kahoka, MO, and Mark Masden of Memphis, MO; eight nieces and nine nephews; ten great-nieces and one great-nephew.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Scotland County Cancer Fund, Janene's Children's Education Fund, or the Gorin United Methodist Church and may be left at or mailed to Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO, 63555.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pastor Homer Poor and Barb Hagerla officiating. Interment followed in the Gorin Cemetery at Gorin, MO. Pallbearers were Alicia Mohr, Andrew Musgrove, Brett Masden, Eric Masden, William Masden, Kylee Sears, Sabe Sears, and Greg Steele. Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
