Carol A. Eller, 62, of Memphis died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Scotland County Hospital.

She was born the daughter of Reeder W. and Helen F. (Dixon) Marsden on January 24, 1949 in Burlington, Iowa.

Carol graduated from Memphis High School.

She entered the United States Army in 1979, serving two tours of duty. Carol was assigned to the military police and earned an Army Service Ribbon, Oversees Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Badge - M16 Rifle, Expert Badge - .38 Caliber Pistol, and the Expert Badge - Hand Grenade.

Following her discharge from the Army, she was employed in security on the oil fields in Alaska.

Carol married Richard Eller on January 29, 1987 in Anchorage, Alaska. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Judy (Marsden) Russell, and two brothers, Joel and Tom Marsden.

She is survived by her children, Brian E. Garrett of Anchorage, AK and James E. Swickard of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Nancy Dixon of Sonoma, CA and Sue Sommers of Luray; a brother, Howard Marsden of Macon; special friend Mary Ann Blessing of Downing.

There are no services scheduled per Carol's request.
