Public Meeting Set to Decide Future of Wyaconda City Fire Department
The Wyaconda City Council will be hosting a community meeting to discuss the city's fire protection. The meeting will be held Monday, December 3rd at 5:30 at the Wyaconda Community Building.
Previously, the city had fire protection through the city and the volunteer fire fighters because the city had a fire truck and paid rent for the truck's space. However, the 1966 fire truck has become obsolete and is no longer used. The city will be looking into selling the outdated truck.
This community meeting is to inform patrons of the options available to the city to continue fire protection. Considerations include entering into a one-year contract with the Wyaconda Rural Fire Department. The contract will provide fire protection coverage for all persons inside the city limits. The second consideration would be for each individual homeowner to pay for their own membership with the rural fire department.
Patrons interested in expressing their thoughts regarding this issue or who have questions are encouraged to attend the community meeting.
