Beta Sorority to Host 31st Christmas Bazaar
The 31st annual Christmas Bazaar, sponsored by Epsilon Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi of Memphis, will be held Saturday, December 1st at the Scotland County High School from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
There will be a lot of new exhibitors this year, as well as many faithful exhibitors that have participated over the years.
The sorority will sponsor a food stand all day. Doughnuts and coffee will be available in the morning. Lunch options include hot dogs, chili dogs, ham sandwiches, chili, chips, pie, cake, tea, milk, coffee, soft drinks, bottled water and hot chocolate.
Some of the exhibitors have been contributing to the bazaar since 1981. A few of the items included this year are: kettle corn, jewelry, books, home baked items, knitted scarves, elk sticks, quilts, rugs, flower arrangements, sweatshirts, ceramics, Christmas ornaments, wreaths and décor, 11 1/2" doll clothes, mittens, gloves, goat milk soap and hand cream, metal garden art, aprons, canned fruit fillings, baby and doll blankets, personalized tiles, fleece throws, pillows, personalized wooden items, leather accessories, other soap items, scrapbooking, crocheted items, wooden animals, baby and children's items, vinyl tumblers, toy candles, hats (fur), seasonal items, wood crafts, jewelry, home décor items, hair bows and bands, kitchen tools, sweatshirts, purses, snow boots, floral arrangements, lighted wine bottles and bottle lamps, baked goods and candy, duct tape purses, wind chimes, place mats, tutus, quilt racks, personalized ornaments, Santa heads with mittens, family birthday signs, wooden stockings with snow balls, coasters, anything else needing personalization can be done, Usborne books (educational children's books), Premier Jewelry, Jafra Cosmetics, Stanley Home Products, Fuller Brush, "Here's Your Sign", Vera Velle Soap Company, Discovery Toys, Princess House and Watkins, Norwex Cleaning Products and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.
Proceeds from the bazaar go towards community betterment. Over $4600 has been given to the community for sickness, Scotland County School (playground), May flowers, Senior Boys breakfast, Scotland County Ministerial Food Pantry, $300 for Scotland County Senior Scholarships (five), Janitorial services (high school), Presbyterian Church, Scotland County Hospital (AED) Resuscitator Device, Scotland County Library, FBLA, FCA, Alpha Epsilon Sigma, After Prom, Dictionaries for Spelling Bee, Girl Scouts, St. John's Thanksgiving dinner, Scotland County Care Center and Santa Helpers.
Santa will be present from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for pictures. A babysitting service will be provided again this year by FBLA. There is a charge for the Santa pictures and the babysitting. The babysitting is for customers only. FBLA will also be available to help exhibitors unload and load.
There will be four basketball games this year, so setup will not be until 10:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. This inconvenience is regrettable, but is unavoidable due to the games.
Exhibitors are asked not to leave before 3:30 p.m.
