All had a great time sharing memories.

On October 12th, 2012, the Class of 1962, an honorary class of the Gorin Alumni, met for a 12 o'clock luncheon in the Gorin School gymnasium. Six of the ten class members and families were in attendance.

Those classmates attending were: Maridee Garrett Davis, Green Castile, MO, Linda Carol Norton Davison, Quincy, IL, Sherrill Tague Clatt, Gorin, MO, Dianna Clatt Lanz, Lee's Summit, MO, Rollie Dorsey, Fort Madison, Iowa, and Linda Jo Childress Kapfer, Scottsdale, AZ. Those classmates unable to attend were: Jerry Clark, Rutledge, MO, Marilyn Monroe, San Francisco, CA, Judy Peterson Franklin, Gorin, MO, and Henry Dennison Memphis, MO, deceased. John Jeffries, former basketball coach and spouse were honorary guests.

After the luncheon, Sherrill Tague Clatt gave a slide presentation of old photos. Sherrill also read a poem she had written that traced the classmates activities from 1st grade in 1950 to graduation in 1962. The following is an excerpt from her poem:

"And who would call John Jeffries anything but 'Coach,'

outside of the books he taught us the most.

"From dribbling to shooting and serving that volleyball,

to being respectful and fair showing good sportsmanship to all.

He never raised his voice or treated us mean.

He didn't even boast when we beat that Wyaconda team."

Following the poem, Linda Jo Childress Kapfer read a tribute to Coach Jeffries. A certificate of appreciation was awarded from the class. Every classmate played basketball under Coach Jeffries.

The rest of the afternoon was spent looking at old uniforms, scrapbooks, and photos. All greatly enjoyed the visitation. Later, the group met at the Gorin Alumni Banquet, and were honored as the 50th Year Graduating Class.
