TSU Groups to Perform at Memphis Theatre
A pair of Truman State concert groups will take the stage in Memphis next week as the fall music schedule continues to shine at the rural northeast Missouri theatre. The Franklin Street Singers and True Men will be performing at the Memphis Theatre on Tuesday, November 13, at 7:30 p.m.
The community is invited to share in the excitement of the performance with no charge.
Franklin Street Singers, Truman State University's show choir, is a select, auditioned group of singer/dancers and small instrumental combo that performs a varied and eclectic repertoire.
Membership for the entire year is open to all students who audition during the first week of the fall semester; 24 students are selected for the ensemble.
Franklin Street Singers enthusiastically supports Truman State by performing many concerts during the year, both in and out of state, including a fall tour. Many high school and civic groups have enjoyed their energetic and entertaining concerts.
Founded in 1997, True Men is an all-male a cappella group made up of students from various majors and interests. The group performs songs from genres ranging from gospel to alternative rock and have released five full-length CDs.
True Men appear annually in St. Louis, Jefferson City, Centerville and Ottumwa. They have also appeared in Kansas City, Wichita and Downtown Disney in Disney World's Magic Music Days program.
