Fire Damages Curry Residence in Memphis
A Memphis residence was damaged by fire on Friday evening. The Memphis Fire Department was dispatched to the David and Kary Curry residence on 717 W. Jefferson Street at 6:26 p.m.
The rear of the home was engulfed in flames when the first responders arrived. The fire department was able to limit fire damage to the south half of the home, but the entire residence sustained smoke and heat damage.
Flames were exiting a window at the rear of the home, adjacent to a wood-burning heating appliance. The flames had spread into the cellar and up the wall into the attic space.
The blaze was quickly brought under control before emergency service personnel went to work extinguishing the fire remnants and ensuring no further danger of spreading.
The fire department was on the scene for approximately two hours. The firemen were assisted by the Scotland County Sheriff's Office, Memphis Police Department and numerous volunteers.
