Highway Patrol Investigates Two Local Accidents
Kahoka Man's Crash Results in Drug Arrest
A Kahoka man was arrested on drug charges following a one-vehicle accident in Scotland County on August 30th.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Michael J. Stephenson, 56, of Kahoka, was eastbound on Highway 136 in a 1994 Ford Ranger, when the pickup went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and travelled back across the roadway, going off the left side, where it overturned and came to rest on its wheels.
Stephenson suffered minor injuries and was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.
The crash occurred at 2:40 p.m., approximately three miles west of Memphis.
Stephenson was ticketed for possession of less than 35 grams of synthetic cannabinoids as well as failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was removed from the scene by Lakeside Towing.
Downing Woman Unhurt in Schuyler County Crash
A Downing woman escaped injury in a two-vehicle crash on August 29th in Schuyler County that left a Hannibal woman hospitalized.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Anita K Jackson, 68, of Downing pulled out from a private drive into the path of a southbound 1988 Dodge driven by William E. Johnston, 44, of Hannibal.
A passenger in Johnston's vehicle, Gina M. Coffey, 55, of Hannibal, sustained minor injuries in the collision. She was transported by Schuyler County EMS to Northeast Missouri Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The crash occurred on U.S. 63, south of Route in Queen City at 3:55 p.m.
Jackson's 2008 Chevrolet sustained minor damage and was removed from the scene by the owner. Johnston's vehicle sustained moderate damage and was removed from the scene by the owner.
