Edinburgh Church to Host Annual Reunion September 9th
Churches of Scotland County Quilt can be seen in Struble's Antiques display window. This will be given away at the Scotland County Antique Fair, which will be held August 23 - August 26. Tickets can be purchased at Struble's Antiques. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Proceeds go to the upkeep of the Edinburg Church.
The annual Edinburgh reunion will be held the second Sunday in September, the 9th, with 11 o'clock services, then a carry in dinner on the church lawn at noon and a brief business meeting following. Come and visit. Dues of $5.00 per person per year can be sent to Mike Myers at 305 Grand Ave., Memphis, MO 63555.
This year, at the Antique Fair, a special quilt of Churches of Scotland County will be raffled off. It can be seen in Struble's Antique Store window with chances being $1.00 per chance or 6 chances for $5.00. Church family from out of the area: Colleen Shelley and sister Elaine Shelley Hawkins; Beverly Forrester Gordon and Vickie Forrester Seby along with mother Bernice Vickrey Forrester and Sue Robinson, also locally Opal Riney Blaine, Leslie Blaine, and Ruth Ann Riney Carnes helped stitching blocks for the quilt with names and historical information. Zelda Keith pieced it together. All the money collected and or donated will be going to restoration of Edinburg Church. These ladies' labor of love is greatly appreciated.
Many efforts of other members went above and beyond for the church and cemetery grounds. Recently much money, time and machinery have been donated for clean up, improvements, rocking and dirt removal, etc. with thanks going to Dave Burrus, Charley Myers, Mark Myers, Tom Myers and Joel Kapfer, and to Tracy Thompson who is replacing the windows, siding and dry walling the church building. The extra work by Elaine and Sterling Forrester on the upkeep of the grounds is much appreciated also.
Respectfully submitted, Diana Wagner, Secretary
