Board Fills Teaching Vacancies at Special Meeting
The Scotland County R-1 School Board met in open session May 30 with six members present. George Koontz participated by phone and Gary Miller was absent.
The special meeting was held to complete a number of employment agreements to fill vacancies within the district.
The Board voted 6-0 to offer employment to Michael Fulk as band instructor for grades 5-12 and chorus instructor for grades 7-12 for the 2012-13 school year.
The Board voted 6-0 to offer employment to Shaina Dochterman as a P.E./Health instructor as well as the varsity girls basketball coach.
The Board also accepted the recommendation of Superintendent Dave Shalley to grant transfer requests for three instructors. Elementary art teacher Dana Frederick will transfer to the high school art teacher position. Leslie Lough will move from an elementary classroom teacher to the K-6 art job. Sharon Dawkins will transfer to Early Childhood Special Education instructor.
The board also voted 6-0 to advertise for the elementary teacher vacancy created by the transfers.
