Keosauqua Motorists Killed in Clark County Accident
Two Keosauqua, IA residents were killed in a two-vehicle accident in Clark County on Wednesday May, 23rd at 7:20 p.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 7:20 p.m. at the intersection of Route C and Route B, three miles north of Wayland.
Blaine E. Dehart, 87, and a passenger in his vehicle, Gertrude A. DuBois, 49, were both pronounced dead at the scene by Clark County Coroner Edwin Wilson.
The Patrol accident report stated that Dehart was westbound on Route C in a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix when the car failed to yield the right of way to a 2000 Chevrolet pickup driven by Dan C. King, 42, of Alexandria, which was northbound on Route B.
The truck struck the car in the driver's side and both vehicles traveled off of Route B into the ditch. The car came to rest on its top, with the truck coming to rest on the driver's side, on top of the car.
King suffered moderate injuries in the crash. He was transported by Air Evac helicopter to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Clark County Sheriff's Office, The Clark County Ambulance Service and the Clark County Rescue Squad and the Wayland Fire Department.
The fatalities were the 11th and 12th for 2012 in the Patrol's Troop B region.
