Top Artwork on Display at 4th Annual SCR-I Art Show

Elizabeth Duzan, Mark Johnson, Mazy Gray and Betsy Johnson display some of the works that will be on display at the 4th annual Scotland County High School Art Show.

The Scotland County R-I high school art program is inviting the community to come celebrate another great year of artwork this Friday, May 11th. That date marks the 4th Annual Scotland County Art Show held at the High School. Doors will open to the community at 6 p.m. and awards will be presented at 7 p.m. The show will remain open until 9 p.m.

"Everyone is welcome to visit and check out the work," said instructor Dustin Harper. "I hope to see another great turn out."

The show will display award-winning projects from numerous SCR-I artists, including Renay Friendshuh's drawing, senior Dylan Arnold's charcoal drawing and senior Mark Johnson's charcoal of a sculptural bust. All three brought home honors from the Culver-Stockton College art show earlier this year.

Also on display will be award-winning art from the Hannibal-LaGrange art competition including a sculpture by junior Matt Robbins, junior Anna Hirner's relief mixed media sculpture, and junior Tahnee Forquer's acrylic painting.

Top colored pencil art from the college competition will be displayed back at the home show by Elizabeth Duzan, Johnson, and Morgan Carleton.

Wyatt Kice's drawing that earned the college contest's best of show award and claimed the junior artist an art scholarship at the school, will also be on display at the SCR-I grand finale.

The art program will host a potluck dinner in conjunction with the show. Junior high students are asked to bring drinks and cups with freshmen and sophomores providing appetizers and plates while the juniors and seniors will bring desserts or silverware.

"This helps tremendously make this a special event for all who participate," Harper stated.

Guest of Honor Judge for this year's show will be Adam Dresden, an artist from St. Louis and fellow alum of William Woods University with Ms. Harper.
