Grant Opens Doors to New Opportunities for Memphis Area Pregnancy Care Center

The Memphis Area Pregnancy Care Center (MAPCC) recently received $2,500 from Grow Communities, sponsored by Monsanto Fund. The funds came from the winning farmer in Scotland County, Darrell Monroe. Pictured (L to R) are Cinda Barrett and Pam Blaine, representatives of MAPCC; Darrell Monroe, the Scotland County winning farmer; and Brian Selle, representative of Monsanto Company.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and Memphis Area Pregnancy Care Center will now be able to better support families and their children thanks to a local farmer and America's Farmers Grow Communities.

Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, gives farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations. Darrell Monroe was the winning farmer in Scotland County. He recognized the need to support residents in his county and directed the donation to Memphis Area Pregnancy Care Center.

The organization will use the $2,500 to better provide services to women and families in Scotland County and the surrounding area.

"The Memphis Area Pregnancy Care Center will use these funds to purchase educational materials, provide counseling, maintain an inventory of emergency needs such as diapers and formula, and cover operating expenses of the office," said Cinda Barrett, Memphis Area Pregnancy Care Center co-director.

In a ceremony held on April 25 at the Memphis Area Pregnancy Care Center, Monroe got the chance to present Memphis Area Pregnancy Care Center with the $2,500 donation.
