Former Resident Arrested for Murder in Florida
A Florida man who grew up in the Memphis area is facing felony murder charges following a stabbing in a Melbourne Florida lounge that left one man dead and another injured.
According to the Melbourne Police Department, Richard Cates Woodsmall, 60, was arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 7th after another Melbourne resident, 55-year-old Larry Creech, was fatally stabbed following an alleged altercation at the Backstreet Lounge. A second victim was hospitalized as a result of the attack, but police are not releasing any information regarding the individual.
According to Brevard County court documents, Woodsmall is being held without bond on the charge of first degree felony murder. He made his initial appearance before Judge Charles J. Roberts on April 8th and was ordered to be held without bail. A public defender was ordered for the defendant. Arraignment was scheduled for May 10th.
