Fire Corporation to Add Email Notifications
For rural residents remembering to pay your annual fire dues will be a little easier in the future. The Scotland County Fire Protection Corporation is unveiling new electronic messaging for members. Board secretary Stacie Dannenhauer announced this week the creation of an email system for the organization, which will allow for better communications as well as future cost savings for the group.
Scotland County residents who are members of the Scotland County Rural Fire Protection Corporation, are required to pay annual membership fees of $30.
Traditionally those fees are payable by January 1st, to insure your inclusion in the fire book publication. This guide is used to establish membership, prior to the rural fire department responding to calls at the property. The organization's bylaws prohibit responding to fire calls at non-member properties unless it is life threatening.
If dues become delinquent beyond March 1st, the renewal cost is $50.
Members interested in receiving an electronic reminder are asked to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. An electronic mail list will be generated for future correspondence as well.
"I would like people to submit their email address so I can send them an email about their fire dues instead of a mailing," Dannenhauer stated. "I am hoping to cut down on the cost of sending out 800 notices."
She added that the new service will be used to correspond with property owners on changing issues such as renters, property sales, etc. as well as provide updates on corporation meetings and business.
