Less than a week after edging Milan in the title game of the Novinger Tournament, the Wildcats turned the tables on their home court, besting Scotland County 41-37 to hand the Lady Tigers their first conference loss.
A slow start doomed Scotland County, which was hampered by foul trouble most of the contest. Milan attempted 23 free throws to just eight for SCR-I.
Poor shooting from the charity stripe by the home team left the door open for Scotland County. Milan made just 10 of the 23 foul shots.
The Tigers had similar shooting struggles in the first period, converting just two field goals in the first period. Buckets by Kiley Frazier and Megan Creek made the score 8-4 in favor of Milan.
That margin grew to 20-12 at the intermission as Scotland County continued to struggle on offense.
Hailey Dial knocked down a three pointer in the third period and Bethany Rader and Jessica Morrow added field goals in the paint to help Scotland County pull within 30-23.
Morrow and Creek combined for 13 points in the fourth period but Milan held on for the four-point victory.
Scotland County dropped to 4-2 on the year and 1-1 in the TRC. Morrow topped the scorebook with 11 points and Creek finished with 10 points.
Milan (4-1, 2-0) was led in scoring by Jordon Dunlop with 13 points and Bianca Caponello added 10 points.
