Schuyler County Cools Off Lady Tigers Hot Start

After opening the year 6-0, Scotland County dropped its second consecutive softball game on September 6th, when Schuyler County topped the Lady Tigers 7-4 in Memphis.

The Rams took advantage of a pair of SCR-I errors in the top of the third inning. That extended the inning, allowing Schuyler County to get three hits with the extra outs and jump out to a 3-0 advantage.

Scotland County had a pair of base runners erased in the same time span, helping keep them off the scoreboard.

The Rams made it 4-0 in the top of the fifth inning courtesy of two more fielding errors.

Courtney Jackson walked to led off the bottom of the inning for SCR-I. She came around to score on a base hit by Megan Creek to make it 4-1.

Schuyler County got that run back plus another in the top of the sixth inning. After an error extended the inning, Schuyler County got to starter Megan Creek with a pair of hits and two base on balls to tally two runs and push the lead to 6-1.

Trailing 7-1 in the bottom of the seventh, SCR-I rallied thanks to a pair of Schuyler County errors. Hailey Dial reached on an error. With one out Jackson walked. They both came in to score on a triple by Creek. She crossed the plate when Randi Slaughter reached on an error to trim the deficit to 7-4. But the rally ended there.

Creek took the loss on the mound. She was charged with seven runs, one earned, in seven innings of work. The junior allowed nine hits and walked four while striking out 12. Scotland County committed six errors in the contest.

The Lady Tigers were held to five hits on the night. Creek went 3-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Dial and Loren Smith recorded the other base hits.
