Memphis Swim Team to Host Triathlon
On this coming Saturday, July 23, a triathlon--"just for fun"--will be held at the Memphis swimming pool. Children and families of all ages are invited to participate. There is no entry fee, and finisher's medals will be awarded to all participants age 18 and under.
The triathlon will begin at 9:00 am at the Memphis pool. Participants need to arrive no later than 8:45 and will choose the distances they swim, bike, and run based on their age and skill level. There will be no timing.
The event will begin in the pool with lap-course swimming. After drying off, putting on shoes, and buckling helmets, participants will proceed to the bike course which includes north Main Street, Highway AA, and Lovers Lane through the parking lot west of the high school. Participants will then run a determined number of laps around the track behind Scotland County schools.
Participants must be able to swim at the intermediate level or above. Helmets are required, and proper fit will be checked prior to the start. Bike helmets are available for free at the Scotland County Health Department.
