Memphis to Host Tri-State Border Bash
Softball teams from Iowa, Illinois and Missouri will be converging on Memphis on Saturday, July 16th for what organizers are hoping is the first annual Tri-State Border Bash softball tournament.
The event will be held at the Scotland County R-I high school and elementary school ball diamonds, with games scheduled beginning at 9:00 a.m. The championship game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. that evening.
The American Softball Association sanctioned event will feature teams in the 14 and under age group.
The event is being organized by local boosters, with proceeds to be used for the construction of a new batting cage for the SCR-I high school softball program, to be located at the softball field on the elementary school grounds.
As part of the fundraiser, SCR-I team members, in conjunction with the Scotland County Rotary Club, will host a pork chop lunch during the tournament. Advance tickets can be purchased from any team member for $7.50 and will be available for pick-up at the elementary school parking lot beginning at noon.
