SCR-I Slams North Shelby 12-1 to Win 11th Straight Game

The 12-1 tally was backwards on the scoreboard, but Scotland County still extended its winning streak to 11 games by knocking off North Shelby in the second game of a double header in Memphis on May 9th.

SCR-I hosted the Raiders in game two, after beating Putnam County 13-5 in the first game of the night. North Shelby traveled to Memphis to make up a rain out game previously scheduled to be played in Shelbina.

The Tigers were thus the visitors on their own field. And SCR-I took advantage of it, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Sabe Sears led off with a double. He scored on an RBI single by Brock Bondurant.

North Shelby tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second inning off starter Harley Stone.

Scotland County took charge in the fourth inning, sending 13 batters to the plate to score seven times.

Andrew Mathes started the rally with a base on balls. He scored on a double by Rod Sears. He scored on a base hit by Dakota Wells. Drew Miller cleared the bases with a double before Cordie Kigar tacked on an RBI single to make it 8-1.

Kigar took over on the mound in the fourth inning, and pitched two shutout innings to seal the victory.

Stone picked up his second win of the night on the mound, going three innings and allowing just one run. Stone allowed just one hit and walked three while striking out five.

SCR-I made it 12-1 in the top of the fifth inning. Miller delivered another run-scoring double. Bondurant had an RBI double before Mathes punctuated the scoring onslaught with a home run.

Bondurant went 3-4 on the game with a pair of RBI. Miller was 2-3 with 3 RBI and Mathes went 1-2 with 2 RBI.

The Tigers improved to 11-2 on the year with the victory.
