Tigers Survive Raiders' Rally to Post One-Point Conference Victory
North Shelby outscored the Tigers 15-2 at the free throw line but it wasn't quite enough as Scotland County fought off a late rally by the Raiders to post a 38-37 Tri-Rivers Conference win on February 15th in Shelbyville.
The home team opened a 14-10 lead in the first period despite a pair of three pointers by Kasey Dial.
Scotland County erased the deficit with an 11-7 run in the second period. Cordie Kigar connected on a three pointer and Sabe Sears and Dakota Wells also got into the scorebook.
The Tigers defense limited North Shelby to a single field goal in the third quarter. That allowed Scotland County to pull ahead 31-27 behind three pointers from Drew Miller and Dial.
Sears converted a key three-point play in the fourth period and his free throw proved to be the difference as the Tigers outlasted North Shelby 38-37.
North Shelby's Alex Thrasher led all scorers with 17 points. He made eight of nine free throws. Overall, North Shelby was 15 of 19 at the charity stripe. Scotland County attempted just three free throws in the game, connecting on two.
Dial finished with nine points to lead SCR-I (10-10, 4-3 TRC). Andrew Mathes added eight points and Harley Stone had six points.
