Brett Thomas Advances to State Wresting Tournament
Brett and Brad Thomas, students at Blair Oaks High School in Jefferson City, MO (formerly of Memphis) competed in the Class 1 District 2 wresting match this past weekend at Versailles, MO.
Brett, a senior, entered districts with a varsity record of 25-11 in the 152 weight class. Brett won his first two matches to advance to the championship round, where he lost 6-5. Brett took 2nd place at districts and will advance to state championships at the Mizzou Arena in Columbia MO. Competition begins at 10 am on Thursday February 17.
Brad, a freshman, entered districts with a varsity record of 9-10 in the 135 weight class. Brad won his first match 7-6 to make it to the semi-finals, but lost his last two matches. Brad finished 6th at districts and did not place for state as only the top 4 in each weight class advance to state.
The Blair Oaks wrestling team finished 2nd as a team with 182.5 points to Centralia's 186 points. Blair Oaks wrestling team is sending 10 of their 14 varsity wrestlers to the state championships.
Brett and Brad are sons of Dale and Pam Thomas, Jefferson City, MO and grandsons of Glen and Suzy Miller of Memphis, MO and Rodney and Debbie Thomas of Gorin, MO.
