SCR-I Blasts Brashear to Open North Shelby Tournament
At times this year, the Scotland County defense has been dominating. Case in point, Tuesday night in the opening round of the North Shelby Tournament. The Lady Tigers did not allow a made field goal until the third quarter of a 43-18 demolition of Brashear.
SCR-I built an 11-0 lead in the first period behind the play of Ashley Tague and Jamie Shaw. The senior forwards combined for eight early points to set the pace of the game.
Tague canned a three pointer before the break as starting guard Cali Hold suffered a knee injury that has her status for the rest of the year up in the air.
Anna Duley stepped up in the third with a pair of field goals as the lead expanded to 31-11 with eight minutes left to play.
Tague finished off a solid night with a pair of fourth quarter field goals and Megan Creek added five points to put the finishing touches on the 43-18 win.
Tague led all scorers with 13 points as SCR-I improved to 8-3 on the season. Duley pitched in with nine points, as did Shaw.
