James Oscar Allen, 78, of Albuquerque passed away September 1, 2011 after a valiant battle against COPD and pneumonia.

He was born in Schuyler County, MO and graduated Memphis High School in 1951 where he played on both the basketball and softball teams. He joined the army and was sent to Korea and was attached to the Air Force installing pipelines.

After returning home, he married Lois Snowbarger in 1956. The family moved to New Mexico where he drove trucks and worked construction. He later bought Diamond Transfer and managed it for over 37 years.

A devoted husband and father, he made time to coach little league baseball, teach his son welding, auto mechanics or go on family outings. He loved to take his granddaughter Bailey out on the boat of just to get ice cream.

His father, Fred Allen and mother, Lela Allen, preceded James in death.

He is survived by his brother Bud, sister Jean, son James W., granddaughter K Allen and former daughter-in-law Valerie Allen.

A memorial service was held Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Service, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE. The family suggests memorial contributions be to Boys and Girls clubs of Albuquerque or the Animal Human Association of New Mexico.
