COLONEL WILLIS BUNCH

Colonel Willis Bunch, son of Volley Edward and Ruby Lee (Greenstreet) Bunch, was born December 3, 1932 near Sublette, Missouri and died July 27, 2011 at the age of 78.
He was united in marriage to Coleen Ann Wild on December 25, 1955 and to this union five children were born. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, Rebecca Wood and husband, Lloyd of Eldon, Missouri, Colonel Bunch Jr. and wife, Rose of Lancaster, Missouri, Jennifer Pantry and husband, Ronald of Lancaster, Missouri and Laura Lee Watson and husband, Jason of Lancaster, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, Joshua Wood, Jason Wood and wife, Danielle, Sarah Pantry, Kathleen Pantry, Jacob Pantry, Willis Pantry, Bo Ridgeway and Austin Ridgeway; five step-grandsons, Mitchell Watson, Jordan Watson, Dillon Watson, Dennis Martinez and Ken Kirby; two great-grandchildren, Landon Wood and Cassidy Wood; six brothers and sisters, Mary Tubbs of Marion, Ohio, Ronald Keith Bunch and wife, Virginia of Sylacauga, Alabama, Kenneth Roy Bunch and wife, Linda of Kississimee. Florida, Nancy Brewer of Sheridan, Arkansas, Karen Hunt of Paris, Missouri and Patricia Kantzer of Marion, Ohio; a half-sister, Ann Bass and husband, Richard of Kirksville, Missouri; sister-in-law, Linda (Bunch) Briedwell and husband, Larry of Glenwood, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Mr. Bunch was preceded in death by his parents; a step-mother, Pearl Bunch; a daughter, Laura Jo Bunch; two brothers, Edward Bunch and John Bunch; 2 step grandchildren, Kelly and Travis Martinez; 1 half brother, Randy Bunch; 1 half sister, Bonnie Bunch; 2 nieces, Rebecca Kantzer and April Tubbs; 1 nephew, James Allen Brewer; 3 brothers-in-law, Robert Tubbs, John Kantzer and James (Bud) Brewer; and his dear friend, Larry Reynolds. He was also preceded in death by his grandfathers, Colonel Greenstreet and Willis Bunch for whom he was named.
Mr. Bunch became a member of the Lancaster Christian Church at a young age and served as an elder for many years. He served in the United States Army in Korea from 1953 to 1955. He was a member of the VFW Post #4958 and American Legion Post #0784. He was also a Mason and a Shriner.
Mr. Bunch spent his entire life farming. He left home when he was 12 years old and made his own way in life from that time on. He served for many years as a beef superintendent at the Schuyler County Junior Livestock Show and as an umpire for the Lancaster Little League. Mr.. Bunch also served many years on the local boards for MFA Agri Services and MFA Oil Company, where he was the state delegate for 10 years. He also served as a member of the State Board of Directors for both MFA Oil and MFA Incorporated. He was also a charter member of the Schuyler County Historical Society.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Lancaster Christian Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith of Lancaster, Missouri assisted by Steve Altheide, pastor of the Lancaster Christian Church of Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Music was provided by soloist, Jim Judd. Special musical selections were "The Green, Green Grass of Home" and "Lead Me Home". Pallbearers were Charles Beeler, Bud Lancaster, Dale Vandike, Greg Vandike, Rick Bunch, and Wade Shaw. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Cowell, Fred Kantzer, Billy Ridgeway, Ian Davis and Matt Kinney.
Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site, Schuyler County Little League or donor's choice.
Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster Missouri with military rites given by the Scotland County VFW Post #4958. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
