WILMA LORRAINE ALDRIDGE

Wilma Lorraine Aldridge, 84, of Memphis, MO, passed away Friday evening, July 29, 2011, in the Scotland County Care Center.
The daughter of Leslie and Freda (Gibbs) Hollis, she was born on October 27, 1926 in Jefferson City, MO. She attended elementary school and high school in Bible Grove.
Lorraine was married to Junior Warren Aldridge on December 19, 1941 in Memphis, MO. To this union three children were born: Lonie, Roy, and Debbie.
Lorraine and Junior lived in the area surrounding Bible Grove and later moved into Bible Grove. She worked at the Bible Grove School as a maintenance worker.
As a young woman, Lorraine enjoyed gardening and embroidery. She was a member of the Bible Grove Christian Church.
Preceding her in death were her son, Roy on November 10, 1966; her husband on October 14, 1993; her son, Lonie on June 8, 2010; two grandsons, Randy Aldridge and Kevin Aldridge; one brother, Wayne Hollis; and one sister, Mary McGill.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie and husband Troy Mitchell of St. Francisville, MO; three sisters, Martha Bradley of Bible Grove, MO, Loretta Leible of St. Charles, MO, and Betty Slobe of Grays Lake, IL; one brother, Bill Hollis of Washington, IL; six grandchildren, Shannon Givens, Sheila Aldridge, Shawn Aldridge, Lonie Lee Aldridge, Marty Aldridge, and Mark Aldridge; numerous great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Rose Ball of Paragould, AR and Margaret Aldridge of Edina, MO.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church, officiating. Troy Mitchell, David Bradley, Bobby Bradley, Dennis Bradley, Shannon Givens and Shawn Aldridge served as pallbearers. Interment was in the Bible Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Bible Grove Christian Church Cemetery or to the Bible Grove Preservation Society and may be left at or mailed to Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
