ZUMA MARIE MONCRIEF
Zuma Marie Moncrief 94, of Wyaconda, MO, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born the daughter of Elmer and Floda (Dorsey) Moncrief in their home south of Wyaconda. Zuma had resided in the family farm since she was three years old.
Zuma was a lifelong member of the New Woodville Baptist Church south of Wyaconda, serving as the treasurer of the church for many years. She was also the secretary of the New Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery Association. Her faith was very important to her.
She enjoyed being outdoors, walking around her garden. Zuma was an avid gardener and canner until two years ago. She shared her garden produce with her friends and neighbors and also shared her special pear honey.
Her caregivers at her apartment and nursing home considered her an angel on earth.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Zula Currier, and her two brothers, Aubrey Moncrief and Eston Moncrief.
She is survived by her niece, Sharon and her husband Harry Slovinski of LaGrange, MO; her nephews, Aubrey and his wife Jan Moncrief of Osage Beach, MO, and Gregory Moncrief of Independence, MO; her great nephews, Ian and his wife Alexa Moncrief of St. Louis, MO, Drew and his wife Stephanie Moncrief of Ashland, MO, and Christopher Moncrief of Louisville, KY; her great great nephew, Grayson Moncrief; and her two very dear friends, Virginia St. Clair and Ed Anderson.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Wyaconda with Reverend Dan Deatrick officiating. Pallbearers were Aubrey and Gregory Moncrief, Harry Slovinski, Ed Anderson, and Lynn and Keith St. Clair. Interment was in the New Woodville Cemetery south of Wyaconda, MO.
Memorials were suggested to the New Woodville Cemetery Association or to the Clark County Nursing Home and may be left at or mailed to Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
