Lanny graduated from Gorin High School and served in the U.S. Army. For 35 years he was an employee of General Telephone, retiring on December 31, 1991.
Lanny was an outdoorsman at heart. He loved fishing and his trips to Canada, hunting and trapshooting. He raised pointer bird dogs for his own use and for sale to others. He enjoyed farming, raising livestock and growing a big garden. It also made him happy to be able to supply neighbors and friends with pumpkins and watermelon from his garden.
For many years he was a 4-H Leader and a mentor for the Clark Co. R-1 FFA Trapshooting Team. Lanny also loved family vacations, playing cards with family and friends, and going to Las Vegas. He never met a stranger, could talk for hours at a time, and was a regular at the local coffee shops. More than anything, Lanny loved his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family. You knew you were special when he referred to you as "Leroy" and his sons-in-law were two of those who earned that special name. Lanny was a man of tall stature with an even bigger heart.
