Vada Pearl Tripp Small, 73, of rural Rutledge, MO, passed away early Thursday morning, April 21, 2011 at her home. The daughter of James Fredrick and Florence Belle Parrish Tripp, she was born on February 26, 1938 in Knox County, MO.

She attended school at Chaney and South Liberty graduating with the Memphis High School class of 1955. She married Donald Orton and to this union two daughters were born, Sandra Kay and Cynthia Rae. On May 5, 1960 she married Donald Glenn Small and to this union four children were born; Danny, David, Doug, and Dianna.

In her earlier years she worked at Hendricks Drug Store, Chuck Wagon Café, Hughes Aircraft in California and various cafes. She loved flowers gardening, and the country life. She also had a love for nature and watching as well as feeding the birds. She loved all her kids and grandchildren. She loved country music, she played piano and sang at many talent shows.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Cynthia Rae who died at birth, two brothers, Denver and Dennis Tripp and two sisters, Verda Grabowski and Vida Edwards.

She is survived by her husband Donnie of Rutledge, MO, two daughters; Sandra Elliott of Tampa, FL and Dianna Ranee Mullinix and her husband Daron of Downing, MO, three sons; Danny Eugene Small and his wife Robin of Williamsburg, Michigan, David Glenn Small and Brandi Ebert of Lancaster, MO, Douglas Gale Small and Brenda Poe of Lancaster, MO eleven grandchildren; Darrin, Dane and Lexi Small, Charity Frizzell, Brandie Elliott, Karra, Hannah and James Small, Bethany, Brooke and Destinee Mullinix, five great grandchildren, three sister-in-laws; Garnett Tripp of Kahoka, MO, Kathleen Tripp of South Dakota and Jeanette Perdew of Bedford, IA, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Memorials are suggested to Flight for Life or the American Diabetes Association and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St. Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis. Officiating the service was Pastor Dee Wiley. Interment followed in the Edinburg Cemetery in rural Scotland Co., MO.

Pallbearers were Danny, Doug, David, Dane, Darrin and James Small. Honorary Pallbearers were Gary Warth, David Smith, Daron Mullinix, George Owings, Fred Zimmerman, Dave Humphrey, Sterling Forrester and Curtis Perdew.
