Carol Jean Nolan, 65 of Memphis, Missouri passed away at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois on Monday, April 11, 2011.

The daughter of Melvin Eugene and Merna Sedy (Smith) Ferdig, she was born on July 21, 1945 in rural Lancaster, Missouri. She was a graduate of the Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Missouri. Carol was united in marriage to George Nolan on October 28, 1967 in Lancaster, Missouri and to this union 5 children were born, Patty, Becky, Vina, Melvin and Robert.

Carol is survived by her husband, George Nolan of Memphis, Missouri; her children, Patty Chuites of Queen City, Missouri, Becky Glaspie and husband, Gilbert of Worthington, Missouri, Vina Fincher of Chariton, Iowa and Melvin Earl Nolan and wife, Michelle of Cumberland, Maryland; 11 grandchildren; a great grandchild; 11 brothers and sisters, Martin Ferdig and wife, Linda of Queen City, Missouri, Charles Ferdig and wife, Debbie of Lancaster, Missouri, Carl Ferdig and wife, Lynise of Purdin, Missouri, Fred Ferdig and wife Carolyn of Luray, Missouri, Steve Ferdig and wife, Katy of Kahoka, Missouri, Merdell Long and husband, Richard of Queen City, Missouri, Janet Shilling and husband, Bill of Bloomfield, Iowa, Patty Evans and husband, Mike of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Nancy McCallem and husband, Donnie of Lancaster, Missouri, Sandy Williams and husband, Bill of Buckner, Missouri and Lillie Ann Swearingin of Queen City, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Ruth Ferdig of Anamosa, Iowa; and a brother-in-law, William Holcomb of Lancaster, Missouri; other family members and many friends.

Her parents; a son, Robert Leon Nolan; a granddaughter, Crystal Nolan, a sister, Susan Holcomb; a brother, Marvin Ferdig, two sons-in-law, Jerry Chuites and Kelly Fincher precede Carol in death.

Carol was a wife, mother and grandmother and treasured the time she was able to spend with her family and friends. She loved her doves and her plants whether they grew inside or outside.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith of Lancaster, Missouri assisted by Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church of Downing, Missouri officiating. Special CD musical selections of "Holes In The Floor To Heaven" and "Amazing Grace" were performed. Pallbearers were Jashua Robinson, Jack Yardley II, Pat Bernand, Tim Bernand, Dustin Norris and Gilbert Glaspie.

Memorials have been established for the family. Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
