VAUGHN KEITH BIGGS

Vaughn Keith Biggs, 75, of Memphis, MO, passed away Friday evening, April 8, 2011, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Vaughn was born June 25, 1935, to Perle H. and Evaun Mustoe Biggs in rural Scotland County, MO. Vaughn attended Clay Point Elementary School northeast of Memphis, and then graduated from the Memphis High School in 1953.
Vaughn began farming with his father north of Memphis in the Brock community after high school. In June of 1956, he married Donna Hunt, and to that union two children, Kellie and Todd, were born. Vaughn worked for a short time in Kansas City, and then returned back to Memphis to resume farming. On July 16, 1967, Vaughn married Karen Adams, and they were blessed with one son, Brian. Vaughn worked with his father for several years and after his father retired from farming, Vaughn employed several local high school students to help with the crops and cattle. Vaughn shared his knowledge and love of planting, harvesting, raising cattle, and life in general with these young men who became part of the family.
Vaughn was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a Christian and a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church. He served as a board member on the Scotland County Ambulance Board, Board of Trustees for the Memphis United Methodist Church and was President of the Farmers Elevator and Produce Board and also served as a delegate to the MFA Oil Board. He also served faithfully as an election worker for many years.
Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Beryl Robinson; and his son Todd. He is survived by Karen, his wife of nearly 44 years; his son Brian Biggs and wife Lisa and granddaughter Sydney of Kansas City, MO; his daughter Kellie Armijo and husband Mark of Gilbert, AZ; his sister, Perlanna Robinson of Memphis, MO; and his sister-in-law Jeanne Mayfield and her husband Pete of Greensburg, MO.
The family has suggested memorials to the Memphis United Methodist Church, or the donor's choice, and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Memphis. Officiating the service was Pastor David Howlett. Interment followed in the Memphis Cemetery east of Memphis, MO. Organist Was Joan Hinds.
Pallbearers were Lewis Cone, Chad Farris, Kory Norton, Jamie Triplett, Nelson Good and Eugene Burkholder. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Kiddoo, John Aylward, Danny Norton, Steve Morris, Doug Freburg, Henry Blessing, Adam Norton, Jerry Watson and James Dale Cone.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
