Memphis Woman Hurt in Four Car Pileup on Christmas
A Memphis woman suffered minor injuries in a four car pileup in Scotland County on Christmas evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 4:40 p.m. at the intersection of Route U and Highway 136, four miles east of Memphis.
Stacie D. Holt, 40, was westbound on Highway 136 in a 1998 Subaru. The vehicle was stopped in traffic, waiting to make a left hand turn.
According to the Patrol, Viola J. Walls, 46, of Memphis, was westbound on Highway 136 in a 1996 Ford pickup. She swerved to avoid the Holt vehicle and entered the eastbound lane where she struck an eastbound 2002 Toyota driven by Elvin M. House, 67 of Hagerstown, MD.
Walls truck then struck Holt's vehicle in the westbound lane.
A fourth vehicle, a 2002 Acura, was westbound at the time of the crash when the driver, Genna R. Adkins, 19, of Hamilton, IL, avoided the crash but ran off the roadway and struck a ditch.
Walls was transported to Scotland County Hospital in Memphis with minor injuries.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff's Office, The Memphis Police Department, Scotland County first responders and the Scotland County Ambulance Service. The Holt and Adkins vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene. The Walls truck was extensively damaged and the House vehicle sustained moderate damage. Both were towed from the scene by Lakeside Towing of Memphis.
