SCR-I to Celebrate Homecoming Week
Scotland County R-I High School will celebrate homecoming week beginning September 19th. The theme for this year's festivities is "The Tigers are Putting on a Show".
Students will be demonstrating their school spirit with a number of theme days throughout the week, dressing in a variety of costumes building up to Friday's parade, football game and school dance.
A pep assembly and community bonfire will be held Thursday night, September 22 following the completion of the junior high and high school softball games versus Putnam County. The event will be held on the tarmac behind the schools near the football concession stand and dressing rooms.
The homecoming parade will begin at 2:15 p.m. on Friday on the Memphis city square. A pep rally will follow the parade, with the players being introduced to fans on the west side of the square.
Anyone interested in entering a float in the parade can contact the high school at 465-8907 to register.
For the third consecutive year, SCR-I students will be working on class floats all day that Friday in preparation for the parade.
The homecoming football game versus Putnam County will kick off Friday night at 7 p.m.
At halftime of the game, the 1991 Scotland County football team will be honored. Team members and the coaches will be recognized for their efforts in reaching the Class 1A state quarterfinals. All players from that squad are invited to attend the event as well as a pregame barbeque to be held at Johnson Park at 5 p.m.
