Iowa Woman Arrested on Felony Assault Charges
An Iowa woman is facing felony charges following a motor vehicle accident in Memphis on Sunday morning that left a local man injured.
According to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office, Sara D. Blew, 30, of Moulton, IA, was charged with driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving stemming from an incident at 1:49 a.m. on September 4th. She was arraigned on September 6th in the Scotland County Associate Circuit Court on the class C felony charge of assault in the second degree - operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated state resulting in an injury.
Law enforcement officers were called to the scene of a disturbance on north Main Street in Memphis. Blew allegedly had driven her vehicle in a reckless manor, resulting in the injury to a pedestrian, Michael Offutt. Offutt was transported to Scotland County Hospital for treatment.
Blew was taken into custody by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. She was transported to Clark County Detention Center and later released on bond.
Additional charges are pending in the investigation.
