SCH Continues Growth with New Doctors, Staff
In an effort to continue the growth of facilities and services at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, new staff have been hired and new positions have been developed to accommodate the expansion and growth of the Hospital. "SCH has a long history of successfully serving the northeast Missouri/southeast Iowa region, and we look forward to further enhancing the clinical excellence for which SCH is known," said Marcia Dial, CEO. "The doctors and leadership at SCH are outstanding, and are already recognized among the best in rural medicine in Missouri and even nationally. Our challenge, and our commitment, is to become even better."
Scotland County Hospital Board of Directors recently appointed Randy Tobler, MD, to the newly created position of Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Tobler has been a member of the SCH medical staff since 2006 and began serving in the new CMO role on July 28th. As CMO, Dr. Tobler will act as the liaison between the medical staff and the Hospital administration. As such, he will work closely with the Hospital's Chief of Staff, Jeff Davis, DO, and the Medical Executive Committee. The CMO provides medical perspective, knowledge, experience and leadership to the Hospital. Dr. Tobler's current focus is on expanding the Hospital's provider network, through recruitment & retention of quality clinicians. Additionally, he facilitates communication and understanding among the various clinical components of the Hospital, to assure the provision of high quality care to the patients and provides substantial input into the direction and operations of the Hospital and its relationship with the medical and clinical staff. "I'm thrilled with this opportunity to play a larger role with the SCH team," says Tobler. "With the Hospital's growth & diversification, this was the perfect time to create the CMO position." Along with this new position, Dr. Tobler will continue to see obstetric & gynecology patients in his practice at the Memphis and Lancaster clinics.
Many new physicians have recently joined the staff at Scotland County Hospital and are building patient relationships in the clinics and hospital. Michael Waddington, DO, sees patients on Wednesdays & Fridays at Memphis Medical Services. He is a graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and primarily sees patients needing Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM), but sees general practice patients as appointment times allow. He and his wife and children live in Kirksville.
Neil Hoyal, DO, is also a graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and he and his wife, Virginia, recently moved to Memphis from Osceola, MO. Dr. Hoyal is an experienced family practice physician and sees patients of all ages with all types of healthcare needs at Memphis Medical Services. Dr. Hoyal delivers babies and also covers the emergency room and provides care to patients at Scotland County Care Center.
Kenneth and Lois Quenneville, and their two daughters, moved to Memphis from Maryville, MO, earlier this summer. They have a son that attends the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Kenneth Quenneville is a board certified emergency room physician, while his wife, Lois, is a Physician Assistant (PA) in Family Practice at Memphis Medical Services. Dr. Quenneville covers a regular rotation of ER shifts each week in the Emergency Department at Scotland County Hospital and Ms. Quenneville sees walk-in patients on Monday - Friday from 12 noon - 2 p.m. A Physician Assistant is able to examine patients and prescribe treatments like a physician. She works in collaboration with Dr. Jeff Davis.
Casey Ball, FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner), sees patients at Lancaster Medical Services. She received her advanced nursing degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. A nurse practitioner works under the supervision of a doctor and at Lancaster Medical Services she works in collaboration with Dr. Julia McNabb. Similar to a Physician Assistant, a Nurse Practitioner can examine patients and prescribe treatments. Ms. Ball's husband is a football coach at Truman State University in Kirksville. They have two small children and live in Kirksville.
Jessica Whitman, PNP (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner), is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and she will join the staff at Memphis Medical Services and Lancaster Medical Services this fall. Ms. Whitman received her advanced nursing degree from the University of Iowa. Her husband is a student at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and is currently doing a rural rotation with Dr. Davis. The Whitman's have two small children and live in Kirksville.
Marcia Dial is also pleased to announce the future arrival of Amy Dolinar, MD, to Memphis. Dr. Dolinar is a Pediatrician. She and her husband, Evan, will move to Memphis from Paradise, California. Dr. Dolinar will be departing as Chief of Pediatrics for Enloe Medical Center in Chico, CA. She will start seeing pediatric patients at Memphis Medical Services later this fall. With the addition of a pediatric specialized physician and a pediatric nurse practitioner, Scotland County Hospital officials believe they have created a very robust healthcare team to care for the children in the area.
Furthermore, Dial has announced the hiring of a Controller in the business office to oversee the healthcare accounting. Michael Brandon, a native of Shelby County, will assume this position next week. Mr. Brandon has a master's degree in accounting and will move to Scotland County with his wife (a Clark County native) and their son in the near future. The new Controller position is primarily responsible for maintenance of accounting systems for the control of hospital assets and the preparation of complete and accurate financial information & records. Additionally, the Controller will provide analysis of operations to identify areas for cost reduction, improved cash flow and revenue enhancement. Mr. Brandon has advanced training in auditing, income tax, fraud auditing and business communications.
Jason Moss, EMT-Paramedic, was recently appointed the Ambulance Supervisor. Moss has been the interim director on several occasions when the supervisor position was vacated. Moss now assumes the full-time leadership role in that department at the Hospital. He has been a paramedic for 16 years and has been with Scotland County Ambulance District for 12 years.
