Downing Couple Arrested After Two-Year Old Hospitalized
A Downing couple is in jail after a two-year-old girl was hospitalized over the weekend.
According to court records, Amber L. White, 22, and Christopher N. Jackson, 22, both of Downing, have been arrested on charges of first-degree endangerment of a child, a Class C felony.
According to local law enforcement officials, White's two-year-old daughter was taken to Scotland County Hospital over the weekend with serious injuries, including severe head trauma and a broken leg.
Law enforcement was notified by the emergency services responders when the child's injuries were found to be inconsistent with the initial accident report. The Memphis Police Department assisted the Schuyler County Sheriff's department at the hospital.
White and Jackson both were arrested by the Schuyler County Sheriff's Department. She is being housed in the Adair County Detention Center. Jackson is being held in the Schuyler County Jail. Both are being held on $25,000 cash-only bonds.
