Broadwater Bridge Removal to Start Next Week
Weather permitting, beginning Tuesday, May 31 at 8:30 a.m., Business Route 136 will be closed to thru traffic for removal of bridge over the abandoned C B & Q Railroad located between US 136 and Huntington Street in Memphis.
This work is being made possible under MoDOT's innovative Safe and Sound Bridge Program and should take approximately 30 working days to complete.
The area in and around the old railroad bridge will be replaced with fill-dirt material, and a new road surface will be built including curb, gutters and sidewalks. Road closure signs will be in place at the bridge notifying motorists of the work. Business Route 136 will be closed to thru traffic, however access to all residences and businesses near the work zone area will be open to traffic. Thru traffic must take alternate routes of travel over US 136 and Missouri 15 during this time.
With almost 40 bridge projects scheduled this year in northeast Missouri, MoDOT has created web pages that will provide updated information about these projects and subsequent road closures. The web pages, found at www.modot.org/northeast under Safe & Sound, are easy to navigate and provide as many details about possible on the bridges that will be rehabilitated or replaced this year.
All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map. The traveling and commuting public is encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones. MoDOT also offers e-update messages sent directly to your email when roadwork is scheduled. Sign up online or call MoDOT's customer service center at 1-888-275-6636.
