Car Crash Damages Storefront on Square
A one-vehicle accident on Wednesday damaged a Memphis store front on the city square and resulted in minor injuries to a local resident.
According to the Scotland County Sheriff's Department, the crash occurred at 10:16 a.m. on April 20th on Main Street on the west side of the city square.
Marjorie I. Peterson, 87, of Memphis was attempting to park her 1996 Oldsmobile in front of Rose Hardware Store at 109 S. Main Street, when she inadvertently hit the gas pedal, forcing the car up and over the curb and sidewalk where it impacted the storefront. The crash caused extensive damage to the windows and wall of the store's northern building.
Peterson was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital where she was treated and released.
