School Board Race Highlights April Election Ballot
Scotland County voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, April 5th for the general municipal election with a pair of races to decide.
Residents of Memphis, Arbela, Granger, Gorin and Rutledge will select their representatives, while county-wide voters will be electing representatives to the Scotland County R-I Board of Education.
The SCR-I school board race features four candidates for three positions. Incumbents George Koontz, Paul Campbell and Matt McKee are all seeking re-election. Former state representative and SCR-I instructor Sam Berkowitz is also seeking a three-year term on the school board.
Voters in the Village of Arbela will also be deciding a race, as four candidates have filed for the two open positions on the board of trustees. Candidates for the two-year terms are Sheila Remley, Sandra Remley, Dale McLeland and Greg Kraus.
In the City of Memphis, incumbents Lucas Remley and Allen Creek are seeking re-election to the city council. Remley serves the east ward and Creek represents the west ward. They have no opposition on the ballot.
The situation is similar in Gorin where Jeanette Jones is the lone candidate on the ballot for the west ward alderman position and Amanda Davis is the only candidate for the east ward job.
Incumbents Glada Shultz and Carol McCabe are on the ballot for the two open seats on the Rutledge Board of Trustees.
Three candidates are on the ballot for three openings on the Granger Board of Trustees. Devin Holt, Dana Shannan and Shane Shannan filed for the openings.
The polls will be open between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
