Tigers Post Near-Perfect Season in 7th Grade Action
The Scotland County seventh grade boys stumbled just a bit out of the gates but finished the season with a nine-game winning streak to post a near perfect 2010 basketball season.
SCR-I dropped its season opener to Clark County by a 34-18 score.
But boy did the Tigers ever right the ship after that, going a perfect 9-0 the rest of the way including a championship at the Schuyler County Tournament.
The Tigers rebounded with a 49-7 win over Knox County to even the team's record. Caleb Doubet and Brendan Orton each scored 12 points and Jacob Holt added 10 in a balanced attack.
Putnam County fell to the Tigers 46-14 in the third game of the year. Orton led all scorers with 20 points and Caleb Doubet added 11 points.
SCR-I topped the 40-point plateau yet again, besting Schuyler County 44-9 to improve to 3-1 behind 19 points from Orton and 10 points from Jade Holt.
The Midgets gave SCR-I its closest game during the streak, with the Tigers escaping with a 30-25 win on November 19th. Caleb Doubet led the way with a barrage of three pointers. Zach Doubet added six points in the win.
North Shelby was the next to fall to SCR-I, dropping a November 22nd contest by a final margin of 32-17 in a game that saw nine different Tigers get into the scorebook.
Zach Curry poured in a season-high 13 points to lead the Tigers to a 53-25 win over Knox County to make the team 7-1. Caleb Doubet added 10 points and Jade Holt finished with nine.
On December 3rd Scotland County destroyed Schuyler County 59-18 behind 25 points from Orton.
SCR-I closed out the year with a 40-28 win over Canton. Orton had 12 points and Caleb Doubet had eight points in the win.
