Cold Shooting Night Lets Knox County Slip By Tigers 54-44

Scotland County was unable to overcome a cold shooting performance on Friday in Edina as the Eagles took advantage of the Tigers off night on offense to hand SCR-I a 55-44 loss.

Scotland County opened strong behind three quick points from Sabe Sears. Drew Miller hit back-to-back three pointers to make it a 9-4 lead for the Tigers.

Knox County trimmed the deficit to one before Kasey Dial hit a three pointer to make it 14-10 with 6:29 left in the second quarter.

But SCR-I was saddled with foul trouble early as Dial was whistled for his third personal and joined Harley Stone on the bench.

Knox County went on a 9-0 run over the next two minutes to pull ahead 19-14.

Sears connected on a jumper and Stone returned to hit a pair of shots to pull the Tigers within 23-20.

The offense came to life in the third quarter for Scotland County. Brock Bondurant scored on the fast break before Sears added a layup of a turnover. Back-to-back three pointers from Miller and Dakota Wells tied the score at 32-32.

But the scoring spicket was turned off nearly as quickly as it was opened for SCR-I. Knox County outscored the Tigers 10-2 to close the third period, putting an exclamation point on the rally with a deep three pointer at the buzzer to make the score 43-34.

Dial kept the team within striking distance with a pair of three pointers to open the fourth quarter but it was not enough as Knox County went on to the 54-44 win.

The Tigers fell to 4-4, 2-2TRC on the year with the loss. Dial led the scoring effort with 11 points. Miller finished with nine points and Stone had eight points.

Knox County (3-5, 3-1 TRC) was led in scoring by Justin Reeves and Royce Poore who both scored 14 points.
